Contiguous deadhead loads can be enabled by an EKA Administrator. This setting will prompt the creation of a deadhead load when the prior delivery of the truck is at a different location than the pickup of the load being dispatched. Go to Carrier Operations → Load Management → Loads → Dispatch/Load Planning.
In Dispatch, click the green button for an asset assignment to display assigned loads and then dispatch a load by clicking on the
icon.
In Load Planning, the Dispatch icon will show for assigned, non-dispatched loads on the Loads/Shipments side.
Click the icon to dispatch the load. If the prior delivery for the truck is not at the same location as the pickup for the load being dispatched, this screen will display.
If a load is already linked to the load being dispatched and it detects the locations don’t match up, a warning will show instead.
To continue to dispatch, click the No, Continue to Dispatch button. To cancel dispatch and then manually create the deadhead load, click Yes, Cancel.
Create Deadhead
To create the deadhead contiguous with the suggested locations, click the Yes, Create Deadhead button. The dispatch load screen will then show where both the primary and linked loads can be dispatched.
Click Dispatch to continue.
Once the loads are active, filling out the loading completed load event for the primary load will automatically deliver the linked deadhead load.
Create Deadhead and Open Load Form
To open the deadhead load form, uncheck the Use Suggested Locations checkbox, then click Yes, Create Deadhead.
The locations can be updated and additional stops can be added as well as updating other details. Click Save to create the linked deadhead load.
The dispatch load screen will not show automatically, so the icon will have to be clicked again to dispatch both the primary and linked loads.
To not create the deadhead contiguous load, click the No, Skip to Dispatch button. The dispatch load screen will show and no deadhead load will be created.
