An Asset Assignment is a combination of Truck, Trailer and Driver that are put together to be assigned to a load. Both a truck and driver must be assigned before dispatching a load.
To add an Asset Assignment, go to Operations → Load Management → Loads → Dispatch.
Click on the button. The Assign Assets modal will open and will display the complete lists of Trucks, Drivers and Trailers. Assets that are currently in use with an existing Asset Assignment will have a green bar to the left of the asset name. The trailer selected for an asset assignment will be the default trailer assignment for loads assigned.
Use the search function at the top of each column to look for a specific asset or scroll through the list to find the asset. Select at least two assets to create an assignment.
When selecting the Driver asset, the driver must be set as either Primary or Secondary. If two drivers are selected, one of them must be set as the Active Driver.
Alternatively, assets can be dragged and dropped together from the lists.
Available Assets and Asset Assignments will be displayed on the left side of the Dispatch screen.
Asset assignments will have a colored bar on the left side corresponding to the following descriptions.
To edit the existing asset assignment, click on the button at the end of the asset assignment row. Alternatively, one of the assets in the assignment can be removed by dragging the asset to the Unassign Asset box at the top of the asset lists.
When a load is assigned, a trailer is not automatically assigned to the load yet. If assigned, the default trailer will be used when dispatching the load. A separate trailer can also be assigned to each load if different from the default trailer. To assign a trailer to a load, first expand an asset assignment’s planned loads, then click the button to assign, reassign, or unassign a trailer. A trailer is not needed to dispatch a load, but generally will be required before completing delivery.
To delete the existing asset assignment, click on the button at the end of the asset assignment row.
