Go to Carrier Operations → Load Management → Load Planning. To enable the load planning functionality, contact EKA Admin.
Load Planning is split into two tables, one side showing loads/shipments, and the other showing assigned loads and planned truck availability. Each side has its own set of filter presets that can be created by users with Carrier Administration access. These filter presets can be used by any user with access to Carrier Operations. By utilizing these filters and selecting different loads, load planning shows a view of how the loads will be assigned chronologically to an asset assignment.
Markets
To create a market, which is one or more states that can be used to filter from, click the Manage Presets button. This button is only available for users with the Carrier Admin role.
If there are no existing markets, update the name and then select one or more states and click the Create button.
Click the name of the market under Saved Markets to either view, edit, or delete the market.
To update, edit either the name or select or remove states and click the Update button. To delete the market, click the icon and click the Delete button.
To not delete the market, after clicking the icon, click the
icon.
To add another market while on the edit option, click the icon.
Filter Presets
There are two types of filter presets. One is for the PTA side of load planning and the other is for the loads/shipments side. To add a filter preset, click the Manage Presets button.
To add a filter preset for the PTA side, click the PTA Filters tab.
Enter in the preset name and then the filters. Any combination of filters can be saved.
Click the Save button to add the preset. Saved presets will show at the bottom of the modal.
To view more information about the preset, click the icon.
To edit the preset, click the icon. The top section will be filled with information from the preset where it can be edited and saved.
To delete a saved preset, click the icon. A confirmation window will open.
Click the Yes button to confirm the deletion or No to cancel.
To add a filter preset for loads, go to the Load Filters tab.
Follow the same instructions as PTA filters to add, edit, and delete load filters.
Load Planning and Assignment
To use a filter preset, search for the preset, select it, and then click the Filter button. Filters can also be used without using presets, or be updated.
When switching to the Dispatch tab, these filters will be pre-filled for each set of filters in Dispatch. Date filters are intentionally not filled.
The filters will also not be automatically applied, so in order to see filtered results, click the Filter buttons.
Utilizing the filters will help narrow down the visible loads. To assign loads using the load planning feature, select assets or a load on the PTA side to open the planned loads for the associated assets. The loads assigned will be displayed chronologically.
Select one load on the loads/shipments side and it will show in the planned loads for the selected assigned load. The potential load will show in yellow while assigned loads show in gray.
Either the load/assets on the left or the load on the right side can be selected first. Only one load or asset assignment can be selected at a time. This affords flexibility to view how the loads would fit in with multiple asset assignments in conjunction with other loads.
To assign the loads shown in yellow, click the Assign Load button. A modal will open showing the current asset assignment with an editable trailer.
Click the Assign button to continue. The load will now be assigned to the asset assignment and be visible on the PTA side. Click the checkbox on any of the assigned loads to view the chronologically planned loads.
Once the load is assigned, it can be dispatched from the Dispatch tab and follow the normal loads process.
Projected Time Available and Notes
Each record in the left side PTA table has a Projected Time Available based on the delivery date of the load. If an asset assignment does not have any planned loads, the most recent estimated time from the driver or assignment in Dispatch will be used.
The Projected Time Available can be manually adjusted by clicking the current PTA value in the PTA column of the table. Update the Date and City as needed the click Submit to save the changes. Click Close to cancel the manual update.
Notes are also available for each PTA record in the left side table. Similar to updating the Projected Time Available, click the current note or -- in the Notes column to add or edit notes.
The notes will be displayed in the table.
